Friday Feature with Joan from Marleyart

1. What is the name of your Etsy shop and why did you choose that name?
My shop name is simple, it’s just my last name, what I do which is art and holiday for my seasonal items.

2. How long have you been on Etsy?
I have been on Etsy since 2008 with my shop Marleyart and 2012 with
My shop MarleyartHoliday.
3. What type of items do you offer?
I work with many different materials but at the moment I am doing a lot
with gourds. I use paper clay, paint, and a burning tool to achieve fun
Santa, Snowmen, pumpkins and birdhouses.
I also make holiday jewelry using silver, metal, paper and clay.
4. How long have you been crafting?
I have been crafting as long as I can remember. It’s is so rewarding to
to create something fun and lovely.

5. Who or What inspires you?
I take inspiration from whatever is around me.
6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
At the moment my favorite item in my shop is anyone of the Santa creations I have I
done this year.
7. Other places where you can be found?
at my website www.marleyart.com

8. How do you describe your artistic style?
My style is realistic, country and fun.
I guess I would describe my style as realistic, folksy and fun.
9. Do you have set days or times to work on your craft?
I work part time so whenever I am not at work I work on crafts or painting especially in the fall season.
I try to work on my art everyday. Usually I sit down to work and I stay for a couple of hours trying to get things done. At holiday time I am a lot busier because I do craft shows in my area.

10. What words of advice would you give others or to someone just starting out?
Do what you love and keep expanding it. Learn new techniques and keep people interested by creating new items.
11. Tell a bit of personal info about yourself.
I am married and the mother of three children and grandmother to three. Art has always played a big part in my life and I continue to pursue painting and crafting. I work in watercolors, oils, pen and ink and I recently started crafting using gourds. I also make jewelry using found objects to create unique pins, bracelets and necklaces.
