Friday Feature with JJ Ladell’s Woodcarving

1. What is the name of your Etsy shop and why did you choose that name?
JJ Ladell’s Woodcarving – the name was an unusual name for an unusual shop – just wanted to make it a little fun.  Sorry, my name’s not JJ either – although I get asked that a lot
2. How long have you been on Etsy?
Since December, 2013
3. What type of items do you offer?
Woodcarvings and fork sculptures
4. How long have you been crafting?
All my life – way to old to let that secret out

5. Who or What inspires you?
When I was growing up I lived on a farm with lots of chickens and they were so fun to watch so I started carving the family chickens, and also the wonderful characters found in children’s books
6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
I love the whimsical characters, they allow for more creativity.  I also love carving the trees.
7. Other places where you can be found?

8. How do you describe your artistic style?
Folk-art and country

9. Do you have set days or times to work on your craft?
Usually in the evenings while relaxing

10. What words of advice would you give others or to someone just starting out?
Don’t give up and build your following and join the right teams – do what you want to do, what makes you happy

11. Tell a bit of personal info about yourself.
We live in Idaho, part of the reason for the pine trees and mountain scenes.
We have 2 children.  We enjoy being outdoors.
