1. What is the name of your Etsy shop and why did you choose that name?
Bright Expectations; Always think positively and look at the bright side. Chin up and a smile on your face. The future looks bright!
2. How long have you been on Etsy?
My shop opened on April 12, 2012.
3. What type of items do you offer?
I weave traditional reed baskets trying to find unique designs and patterns.
4. How long have you been crafting?
I remember as a small child making pom pom craft projects when camping and Christmas ornaments from milk pods with nativity scenes in them.
5. Who or What inspires you?
My mom (LOVE her :o)) didn't start oil painting until mid-life and my dad (LOVE him too ;o)) started making custom knives from raw materials just a few years ago. Keep your hands from being idle and your mind creating and you will be happier in life.
6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
I love the functionality of this basket (big enough to put lots of stuff in), the twill weaving pattern is one of my favorites, and I have a friend who makes me custom pottery handles that makes these baskets a little different than anyone else's.
7. Other places where you can be found?
I haven't branched out to Ebay or blogging yet. Seems like Etsy keeps me pretty busy.
8. How do you describe your artistic style?
Traditional with an artistic edge.
9. Do you have set days or times to work on your craft?
I have some special lady friends who weave also. We try to get together and weave once a week. I have a workshop set up in my basement that I work in off and on during the week.
10. What words of advice would you give others or to someone just starting out?
Do what you love and love what you're doing. Selling your items should just be the icing on your cupcake (I love cupcakes, lol).
11. Tell a bit of personal info about yourself.
I am married to my husband of 20 years and we live in southern Illinois. We have four sons and six grandchildren (they are all pretty special).
We love to travel and see new places, but the ocean is our favorite.
