Feature Friday with the Crafty Farmhouse

Our Feature Friday is with Tricia of Crafty Farmhouse.  She makes some wonderful prims!

My shop name is the Crafty Farmhouse. For the reason that I have always been crafty, and I love my 1900 Farmhouse. The old woodwork and moldings in my home give me great surroundings for primitives.
I started my shop on Etsy in Sept. of 2011. I had heard of the site from my cousin, and thought that it would be a great outlet for my craft’s.
I love, love to make primitive items. I am also into to some shabby chic. My most popular items in my shop are my penny mats. And they are also my favorite to make. I love to combine all the different color combinations and think of new ways of using penny circles.

  

I have been crafting since I was about 5 years old. I can remember when I was in kindergarten, I would watch Mr. Dress up, and I always had to make whatever project he was making that day. And I just turned 40 in august, so I have been crafting most of my life, in one way or another.
My inspirations for crafting come from my grandma and my mom. My grandma was a national award winning rug hooker, and has created some amazing hookings, some that I am blessed to have. And my mom has also been a lifelong crafter, she was dragging me and my brother's to rummage sales on the bag sale day’s when I was a child. She even back in the 70's was using reclaimed wool. She acquired a very large amount of wool coats that she turned into braided rugs, which she still makes today. That is where I got my love of wool from, so I have a vast supply of wool from all of her years of rummage sales, and collecting the wool she did, way back when.

Well my first love of crafting is cross stitch, the more challenging the better. I have made so beautiful cross stitch pictures, which are in my home. And for the items in my shop, I love to make my penny mats; each one is special to me. I put allot of time and thought in each one that I make. And I just love it.
My mom and I started to do craft shows a few years ago, and when I realized that people liked what I was making , I looked for some more outlet's for my crafts. I also have my penny mats in a nice shop near my home, called the Pineberry Shoppe.  I would like to branch out more in the future.

My artistic style is a bit eclectic, for my own decorating I love primitives. But I also like shabby chic, and I love to make cute girly thing's for my daughter's room.
Anyone  who has crafting in them, should always try to work on something, no matter how long it may take or how much time you can devote to your crafts, it is so rewarding when you finish what you have been working on.

 

I love being a mom and a crafter; I can't imagine anything else that is more rewarding. Even though I have had some struggles in the past few years with back troubles. In Dec.2010 I had to have a lumbar spinal fusion. Which postponed my sewing at that time, but since then I still have a bit of trouble with my back, but still find the time to do what I love. Me and my cat (Final) hang out all day.  I will be welcoming a new rescue kitten into my home in just a couple weeks ( I can’t wait).  I will have plenty of company during the day while I sewing. Till the kid's come home from school, and it's back to housework, and homework.
